Scottish AGM 2015

Over 100 attended the IRRV Scottish Association 2015 on Thursday 26th February 2015 at the Falkirk Council Chambers, kindly sponsored by Alex M Adamson LLP..    Joan Hewton, Assessor and ERO for Lothian Valuation Joint Board, was elected as the new Association President.

Last November, the First Minister announced the establishment of an independent commission to examine alternatives to the current council tax system.     Therefore, the theme of presentations at the AGM was the Commission on Local Tax Reform, with presentations from the following :

  • Detail of the Scottish Government’s Commission, review process and timescales – Robin Haynes, Scottish Government
  • A Revenues Practitioner’s Perspective and the Institute’s work – Jim McCafferty, Senior Vice President, Institute of Revenues, Rating & Valuation
  • A Valuation Perspective - David Thomson, Assessor & Electoral Registration Officer, Dunbartonshire & Argyll & Bute Valuation Joint Board
