Course background

IRRV in Scotland is delighted to announce this important training event that will cover key aspects of the Fraud and Error Reduction Incentive Scheme (FERIS), reflecting on the first year of the scheme and looking in-depth at FERIS arrangements for the upcoming financial year.

The Fraud and Error Reduction Incentive Scheme (FERIS) was launched by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) on 24th November 2014. As authorities know, FERIS offers financial rewards to local authorities who further tackle Fraud and Error (F&E) in their Housing Benefit caseload.

IRRV FERIS Workshop 2017

In partnership with DWP, IRRV Scotland is running an event in central Scotland on 17th February at the Leapark Hotel, Grangemouth.

With FERIS 3 rapidly approaching DWP will introduce the refined FERIS arrangements for 2017/18, including an update on:

  • threshold incentive payments and trigger points  arrangements for adjusting baselines
  • the Caseload Management Indicator (CMI)
  • CMI’s impact on thresholds.

DWP will also reflect on the first 2 years of FERIS and in particular:

  • consequent challenges around increasing HB overpayment debt  the process and timing of any end of FERIS year adjustments
  • lessons learned from years 1 and 2
  • FERIS Good Practice.

More generally DWP will also provide an update on its latest thinking around all things related to fraud, error and debt, in particular wider use of real time information.

John Giblin will facilitate the event. John has been a management consultant for over 25 years. He helped the DWP successfully implement Incapacity Benefit and JSA and is now working with IRRV as a freelance management consultant. John will share his direct experience in helping a number of councils :

  • bid successfully for FERIS Maintenance Funds
  • achieve FERIS incentive rewards for exceeding threshold
  • improve cash-flow through accelerated debt recovery.

Due to their huge popularity in previous workshops, John will again facilitate syndicate and group sessions to ensure that you get the optimal exchange of knowledge and ideas, from each other.

The day will begin with coffee and registration from 9.30am and will conclude around 3.30pm to 3.45pm.

A full agenda will be available later. This workshop will be invaluable for Benefit Managers, Team Leaders and other relevant staff.

The workshop represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £125 + VAT. This includes lunch, refreshments, and training materials.

As places are limited, early booking is recommended. The IRRV regrets that, under normal circumstances, delegate fees cannot be refunded. However, delegate substitutions may be made at no cost at any time prior to the Seminar, subject to these being notified to the Institute.

Every fourth place from the same organisation booked for this workshop (and made in the same booking) is entirely free of charge. Please note that, due to the demand for places, this offer applies only to the workshops detailed in this brochure.
