Course background

IRRV in Scotland is delighted to announce the return of this Masterclass, focussing on council tax, aimed at complementing its existing very successful Know Your Council Tax course.

Scottish Revenues & Benefits Forum correspondence between local authorities shows that there are still many areas of council tax legislation being the subject of technical queries or causing confusion in interpretation.

This one day course, led by Allan Traynor, a Past President of the Institute, is aimed at council tax practitioners and will take an in-depth look at legislation including the impact of case law relating to current topical subjects. The event will be run as a workshop encouraging delegate participation and debate.

The course will be invaluable to all who work in council tax administration particularly those involved in appeals including attendance at appeal hearings. Organisations such as recovery agents will also find the course of great value to their staff.

Some comments from delegates at the previous Masterclasses in Scotland, led by Allan Traynor

“Very interesting – topical and informative” “Excellent content and pace, with good group interaction” “Good forum for discussion of topical revenues issues” “Very well presented and highly useful”

A key feature of this event is that the programme is flexible and will accommodate issues delegates specifically wish covered. The booking form affords the opportunity to raise issues in advance and delegates can also raise these on the day of the seminar itself.

The seminar represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £125 + VAT. This includes lunch, refreshments, and training materials.

As places are limited, early booking is recommended. The IRRV regrets that, under normal circumstances, delegate fees cannot be refunded. However, delegate substitutions may be made at no cost at any time prior to the Seminar, subject to these being notified to the Institute.

SPECIAL OFFER

Every fourth place from the same organisation booked for this course (and made in the same booking) is entirely free of charge. Please note that, due to the demand for places, this offer applies only to the course detailed in this brochure.
