- a focus on rapidly rising HB overpayments and debt
Leapark Hotel, Grangemouth

Friday 23rd March 2018

IRRV in Scotland is delighted to announce this important workshop.

Valid for IRRV CPD Points

We are again working in partnership with John Giblin to deliver this workshop that looks at messy problem solving, solution finding, option appraisal and delivering a business case. The theme and focus of the day will be very much around the current and growing problem of rapidly rising debt and the challenges of maximising recovery before UC migration.

More generally the workshop recognises that even the best plans may go awry. And set very much within a revenues and benefits context, the day provides a practical introduction into:

  • using a wide range of problem solving techniques to identify root cause
  • generating solutions consistent with business objectives and with optimum staff buy-in
  • establishing a preferred option and doing a business case for it.

Many of you will have attended John’s workshops before. Over the last 10 years he has delivered more than 60 workshops for IRRV and more than 95% of the delegates have rated them as very good or excellent.

For this particular workshop John will showcase his work with many councils across the UK, carrying out debt management health-checks and improving massively revenue collection.

As well as instructor led sessions on the above the day will have a good number of interactive sessions and syndicate exercises.

Finally, there will be some syndicate work to discuss how and when the learning from the day can be introduced back at the office.

The day will begin with coffee and registration at 9.30am and will conclude around 3.30pm to 3.45pm.

Example Case Study Topic from the day : Optimising overpayment recovery with Universal Credit on the horizon:

  • how do you make the best of the time remaining to get your debt under control?
  • what are the challenges?
  • what are your options?
  • how do you pitch your Invest to Save proposals?

Within a revenues and benefits context and using the desire for better debt management as a case study, this workshop provides:

  • a practical introduction into how a range of problem solving techniques might be best used to understand why performance might not be what you want (rising debt in particular)

  • an overview on generating value-adding solutions

  • some excellent tips on pitching and promoting an invest to save bid.

The seminar represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £145 + VAT.

This includes lunch, refreshments, and training materials.

As places are limited, early booking is recommended.

The IRRV regrets that, under normal circumstances, delegate fees cannot be refunded. However, delegate substitutions may be made at no cost at any time prior to the Seminar, subject to these being notified to the Institute.

Every fourth place from the same organisation booked for this workshop (and made in the same booking) is entirely free of charge. Please note that, due to the demand for places, this offer applies only to the workshop detailed in this brochure.
