This new course, created at the request of local authorities, gives attendees a foundation level introduction to Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and the welfare benefits landscape. It gives attendees the detail that local authority, housing association and other key staff require to know. It is fully updated to ensure the latest UC information is included.
Aim
To introduce the subjects of Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction and working age welfare benefits and place them in context.
The course is aimed at relatively new staff or any staff who require a refresher in the legislation and administration of HB/CTR schemes.
It is also ideally suited to staff who are required to have a better understanding of the main welfare benefits. It is also useful to those in the wider benefits and welfare sector involved in assisting or advising those who have, or need, to claim.

The day is designed to be interactive and promotes sharing of knowledge and best practice. Timings are indicative and are subject to change on the day.
The course will be facilitated by Paula Doherty. Paula is a leading benefits practitioner, the IRRV Education Liaison Officer and a member of the IRRV Scottish Association Executive.
Paula is also Chair of the IRRV Welfare Reform Consortium.
The workshop represents excellent value for money, with seminar fees starting at only £145 + VAT. This includes lunch, refreshments, and training materials.
