IRRV Scotland is pleased to announce this major conference, taking place on Tuesday 25th June 2019 in Grangemouth.

This is being organised at the request of local authorities, housing associations, other organisations and IRRV members across Scotland and aims to examine the wider issues around welfare reform, following on from the IRRV’s recent event covering issues around Universal Credit.

The key theme of conference is to examine the long-term future for local authorities in administering and supporting welfare provision and the role of Housing Benefit as welfare reform proceeds.

The welfare reform agenda represents the greatest change in benefits delivery in a generation and its likely impact on service delivery in local authorities is hugely significant.

This major conference will look in detail at :

  • Welfare Reform - the long term future for local welfare delivery and the future of Housing Benefit

  • An academic viewpoint

  • A practitioner perspective

  • Housing Benefit and older people – what does the future hold?

  • Managing Housing Benefit caseload reduction – the staffing and administration challenges

  • Designing the delivery of Housing Benefit to reduce homelessness

  • Welfare Reform – the political viewpoint – key Conservative speaker

  • Housing Benefit long-term : the case for the removing the housing element in Universal Credit

  • Future delivery of Discretionary Housing Payments

With key speakers, this conference is a must for all local authority, housing association, third sector and other key professionals.

The conference chair will be Paula Doherty, Vice President of the IRRV Scottish Association, Chair of the Welfare Reform Consortium and Team Leader – Benefits and Welfare, Dumfries and Galloway Council.

This important conference represents excellent value for money, with conference fees starting at only £145 + VAT. To encourage organisations to send a number of team members, every third delegate from the same organisation comes entirely free of charge.
