Tackling Poverty Conference - the role for revenues and benefits teams

IRRV Scotland is pleased to announce this major conference, taking place on Wednesday 15th April 2020 in Grangemouth. This is being organised at the request of local authorities, housing associations, other organisations and members across Scotland and aims to examine the wider issues around tackling poverty in Scotland and the specific role for benefits and revenues teams in this vital area.

The key theme of conference is to examine the key role for revenues and benefit staff, team leaders and managers in local authorities in supporting anti-poverty initiatives and their role in this area of policy, in the context of welfare reform.

The welfare reform agenda represents the greatest change in benefits delivery in a generation and its likely impact on service delivery in local authorities is hugely significant. This conference will widen awareness of the various causes of poverty, how it impacts individuals and families and the key role benefits and revenues staff have in anti-poverty initiatives and delivery.

The conference chair will be Les Robertson, Head of Revenue and Commercial Services, Fife Council and chair of the IRRV Scottish Revenues and Benefits Forum.
